In recent years some developers have taken it upon themselves to become “Hype men” for their respective companies. Now let’s get one thing straight, if I worked on a AAA title that looked like Bulletstorm, you bet I would hype the living hell out of it. The question however is, have the devs over at Epic and People Can Fly gone too far? Is this latest “hype” filled video for Bulletstorm dumbing down the talent of some amazing artists and programmers?
Time to break out the compressed air and blow the dust out of your video card’s exhaust slot. The annual Holiday Steam sale is here again, brining ridiculous deals on major releases, indie games, and entire studio catalogs.
Horde mode is a blast, nobody can argue with that. Love or hate Gears of War, horde mode is nothing short of genius. Epic Games continues to award its fans with special events that alter the game-play and make old adventures feel new. This holiday season let us celebrate with the merry sounds of grunting and evisceration, let us celebrate the 12 days of Gearsmas.
L.A. Noire, the next major title due out of Rockstar looks phenomenal. Mexico aside, Red Dead Redemption was an amazing title. Well acted, well written, and if they can pull that off in this new setting I think L.A. Noire…
Epic Games released some great info for Gears of War fans today. For those that were upset about Gears of War 3 getting pushed to Q4 2011, there was only one morsel of information that offered any sort of respite. Words cannot really express how amazing this new trailer is. Watch Wesker and Magneto compete for a canister of the T-Virus.
I had the pleasure of trying out Dragon Age II over the summer at San Diego Comic Con 2010. Was I a lucky member of the press whisked away to some dark room to spend hours with the game? No, absolutely not. I waited in a long line with other passionate fans for about an hour to get my hands on an early build of the game. As I told a number of my friends, the game looked and felt amazing. Combat had been sped up, and everything felt more fluid and tactile.
New, DLC was released for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II this week. But, these may not be the DLC packs you’re looking for.
Jimmy Fallon is one of us. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Fallon is a nerd. I once saw a tour of his office that revealed some hidden game systems tucked away inside seemingly normal cabinets. Jimmy Fallon is also one of the first high profile “celebrities” to really voice his passion for gaming despite the fact that it is often viewed as “for kids” or “too nerdy”.
Buying Super Castlevania IV from the virtual console should have been the second thing you did with the Wii. The first, of course, was figuring out how to cheat the system at Wii Sports bowling. SCIV first hit store shelves in December 1991, and 19 years later, it still offers excellent platforming and one of the best soundtracks in gaming. Be sure to check out the music tribute video toward the end.

What you’re seeing here are the ruins of London England in the year 2184 C.E. The cockney sounding gentlemen states that 2 million were killed in the first day, and another 7 million in the first week. While the numbers may seem low for a massive alien invasion, we are talking about the population of London after many humans left earth due to pollution and overpopulation problems. Also, we should all be aware that many of the humans are more than likley being harvested for some nefarious purpose, as seen in Mass Effect 2.
