Technology can’t keep up with the dedication and rabid loyalty of convention goers these days. First, SDCC registration was shut down for months due to the speed and ferocity of registration, and now PAX: Prime registration too has been shattered and broken. Keep your eyes on the offical PAX Twitter feed as well as NerdAppropriate.com for details as to when registration will reopen.
Orcs Must Die was one of our biggest surprises/hits from PAX East 2011. We loved the take on tower defense and how fluid the gameplay felt. At the time I played it on the Xbox 360 and continued that trend on my own machine at home. Apparently I was one [...]
Where would conventions be without the incredible costumes? There is something magical about seeing your favorite hero or villain standing in front of you in 3D. Costuming has come a long way since my very first comic book convention in the 1980s. The talented folks behind many of the costumes you’ll see below spent months toiling over hundreds of screen shots and concept art to make their creations look as realistic as possible. I’ll go out on a limb and say that conventions wouldn’t be what they are today (see: awesome) without the hard work and dedication of these creative misfits.
Since our interview with them last year the ever-busy unicorns have been working on a number of projects individually, and are currently working on something incredibly cool that I promised not to talk about… yet. PAX East is a three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers. We call it a festival because in addition to dedicated tournaments and freeplay areas we’ve got nerdcore concerts, panel discussions, and an exhibitor hall filled with booths displaying the latest from top game publishers and developers.
Hero Academy is one of our favorite iOS games of all time, and it keeps getting better! We received a press release this morning from the mad-scientists at Robot Entertainment that confirmed what we predicted a few weeks ago, the Orcs are stomping their way into the Hero Academy. This [...]
Last year Matt and I had an absolute blast at SWAP.com’s pre-PAX video game swap party and met some great folks too. The concept is simple, bring a video game with you to the event (any platform wil do), and walk away another game for zero dollars! The swap party is an awesome way to pick up a title you may have missed otherwise, AND meet like minded gamers and industry folk.
Good news for Hero Academy fans attending PAX: East next month, there may be something green and slobbery in your immediate future (or so we think). Do the creators of Orcs Must Die (now on sale BTW), have even more green mayhem headed our way? Our money is on YES.
On this pre-ME3 podcast, we ask for your outlandish predictions of the highly anticipated game. We also look ahead to PAX East and ComicCon. Assassin’s Creed 3 has a revolutionary new setting, and Windows 8 gets an Xbox Companion. We review Squids on Android, Awake on NBC, and Matt’s Comic PotW. Listen now, it’s as easy as getting your space game out of a tree!

Have you ever been in a relationship where the target of your affection doesn’t quite love you as much as you love them? While You treat them with total respect and devotion, they seem mysteriously distant and preoccupied. Well Blizzard, I think we should see other people. I try and [...]
