The first annual Geek Girl Con was held on October 8th and 9th in Seattle, WA. This was the first con I’d been to in years and I met some great people (check out these awesome Dragon Age cosplayers) and snagged a couple of autographs. For purposes of this piece I’m focusing on two panels I sat in on: the Designing Women of Bioware and “No, I am not a Booth Babe:” Sexism in the Video Game Industry (Weds!).
We don’t know if this ad is legitimate, but what we can do is look into the legitimacy of South Africa’s BT Games… because let’s face it, here in the West we know very little of this mysterious “Africa” being mentioned.

As most of you are aware, Bioware decided to allow fans to choose the official appearance for the female Commander Shepard on Facebook and I was lucky enough to be at the Bioware-Base when the six candidates were announced. The scene was utter-mayhem and I can honestly say there were almost as many females as males present at the event. However here is where things get a bit tricky.
The biggest, scariest, and most hectic nerd convention in all the land is almost upon us, San Diego Comic Con International! Even if you’ve been your fair share of nerd conventions, I assure you, there is nothing on Earth like San Diego Comic Con. For the next few days I’ll be dropping some Comic Con knowledge bombs so that you can have the best time humanly possible at the world’s biggest nerd gathering.
