I had the opportunity to play Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma last year at Nerd HQ really enjoyed myself. I think the problem with modern RPGs is that many new IPs are terrified to really innovate and often borrow systems and themes from other games of a similar ilk. It’s no coincidence that I felt like I was playing Fable mixed with WOW while hacking my way through the beginning of KOA: Reckoning.

Today was a huge day for all things Resident Evil! The demo for Resident Evil: Revelations hit the 3DS (to very some very positive buzz), the teaser for Resident Evil: Retribution dropped from Sony, and less than an hour ago…
The Demo for Asura’s Wrath is unlike any game I’ve ever played before, as the game isn’t really a game at all. That’s right, much to my surprise Asura’s Wrath was actually nothing more than a collection of mini games and Quicktime evens smashed together into one god punching… rhythm game. Wait, rhythm game?
And here is where things get interesting. While it hasn’t been “officially” announced, Capcom is already at work on Resident Evil 6. Sure, I have very little in the way proof, but let’s just say I have a “hunch”. Capcom needs to know that the gaming community wants Julia back as the likeness of Jill Valentine, as she is the “iconic” Jill Valentine.
The Nintendo 3DS may not be selling all that well… yet. These new Resident Evil: Revelation screens and trailer prove that there is a whole lot of horsepower under the hood of that little dust collecting Nintendo machine. The Nintendo 3DS is sadly underrepresented in the “new” software department, sure you may love playing Pilot Wings for hours on end, but I for one am elated to see such an amazing looking title coming from Capcom on the 3DS.
Captivate: 2011 happened over the weekend in Sunny Miami Florida leaving gaming journalists everywhere saying, “why Florida?“, “It’s really hot there“, and “Miami is sorta’ scummy“… Well even as a denizen of America’s limp phallus, I’m not brave enough to disagree with you all.
It is September 1998 and the action centres once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors.
Seth Killian (Community Manager: Capcom) has no clue who I am, but for about 30 minutes he and I worked together to defeat the rival “green” Shogun in Haunted Temple’s: Skulls of the Shogun. Skulls of the Shogun was a big surprise for me. In a virtual sea of first person shooters, action platformers, and… well… crap… Shogun stood out as one of the few turn based strategy games at PAX East 2011.
Capcom has released some information today about how you can help the people of Japan and get a little something (other then a little more self respect) for your consideration. Buy Street Fighter IV any time this week on iPhone…
Eleven Years. Eleven Years ago I was playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on arcade cabinet deep within the recesses of the USF student union. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was largely to blame for me failing out of college that semester (that extreme laziness). Why on earth did they have to put that game so damn close to my stupid Urban Geography class?
