Netflix offers streaming-only plan

Netflix streaming only plan for $7.99

Today, Netflix announces a streaming only plan for $7.99 per month. Consequentially, the cost other plans appear to be increasing by a dollar or so, depending on your plan. The plan announcement arrives on the heels of the recently announced Hulu Plus, which came out of the preview period earlier this week, also $7.99. Looks like a little healthy competition here, giving consumers more choice beyond cable and satellite. Score!

Hi, I’m one of the founders of Nerd Appropriate and the Rated NA podcast. I like good and bad sci-fi films/tv, synthesizers, and the retrofuture. I am primarily an Xbox gamer, but also do some PC and Switch gaming as well. By day, I am a research scientist, mostly in topics related to human-computer interaction and user experience. Before all of this, fellow NA co-founder Matt and I played music together in various bands. I also used to make "comedy" videos for my high school morning news program before there was a place to post them online. Favorite Star Wars character? Admiral Ackbar. Best Bond era? Timothy Dalton (Craig a close second). Top 3 games? Let's go with System Shock 2, A Link to the Past, and Super Castlevania IV. Thanks for being a part of this labor of nerdy love with us.

Finally, I can stream those episodes of Charlie Chaplin I missed! Plus I hear they recently got the rights and added the Roundhay Garden Scene. You guys should check it out.

I honestly think you are recalling a time when Netflix instant-watch wasn’t awesome. It really has changed for the better. It’s worth it for the horror and sci-fi selection alone.

I’d like to say I’d keep my 1 disc plan so I can still watch all the movies I want but I’ve had a copy of Fantastic Mr. Fox for over 6 months….still sealed. So I probably don’t need it. Streaming is where its at and its only getting better.

I’m still sticking with my 1 disc plan, for some reason all the things I want to watch aren’t streaming……ever.

Actually, The Planets Funniest Animals Season 9 just went up…sooooo you might want to rethink that.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to stream NFL and I’ll be set.
