Steam-ing hot sales

Its on. Steam is having another weekend sale, similar to last holiday season. A few games go on sale each day, usually one or two are too good to pass up. New this year are deals on multi  packs. For example, 6 copies of borderlands for one low price, to gift to your clan.

Also, Steam now supports wish lists; during the weekend 30 users per day will win the top 5 games on their wish list. Do it… or don’t, just increases my chances.

See also gog.com and the newly redesgined GFWL client for similar deals. Happy gaming.

Hi, I’m one of the founders of Nerd Appropriate and the Rated NA podcast. I like good and bad sci-fi films and tv, pho, and the retrofuture. I am primarily an Xbox gamer, but also do some PC and Wii U gaming as well. By day, I am a research scientist, mostly in topics related to human-computer interaction and user experience. Before all this, fellow NA co-founder Matt and I played music together in various bands. I also used to make "comedy" videos for my high school morning news program before there was a place to post them online. Favorite Star Wars character? Admiral Ackbar. Best Bond era? Timothy Dalton (Craig a close second). Game of all time? Maybe System Shock 2. Thanks for being a part of this labor of nerdy love with us.

Do you have any recommendations for some must play games that people may have missed?

  • Ash

I haven’t gotten anything on STEAM in a while. Sadly, I haven’t really played anything on my PC in ages.

Join the fold. Get Civ V.

  • Yes! Torchlight for Diablo fans. Trine for platforming. Indigo prohpecy for heavy rain fans. Deus ex for classic FPS RPG. Lucasarts classic star wars games too. Ill add a few more soon.

      I’ll take console suggestions too.

      • Off the top of my head, I’d rate The Saboteur as one of the most under-appreciated games of the year. It’s like Red Faction: Guerrilla or Mercenaries with so much more fit and finish. Viva la Resistance! Alan Wake also is near the top of my sleeper list for this year.

Ya’ know, its harder for me to finish open world games on occasion. Saboteur is one of those games I never got around to beating. It felt very dated by the time it actually came out. Great game though.

  • For a while I was only playing games about 6mo to 1yr old because they were cheaper. I think I had recently finished mercenaries 2, so I was stoked on it… also got the nudie DLC, hehe.
