Most directors hot off the success of one of the highest grossing films of all time would no doubt try and cash in on all the hype by working on another massive action film. Then again, most directors aren’t Joss Whedon. Much Ado About Nothing, a Shakespearean adaptation, recently screened this weekend during Austin’s SXSW everything festival, and we’ve been hearing some great things
I’m sure people are wondering why I am even bothering to write about a game which is almost 8 years old. In the interests of full disclosure, I hadn’t even played Jade Empire till last week at the insistence of @arch4ngel. Now that I have played, and loved the game, I want to talk about it.
Tonight, The Science Channel presents an all new documentary titled Firefly: Bowncoats Unite that features all new interviews and footage from this summer’s Comic-Con. Use this documentary as exhibit-A when the new Firefly inevitably launches … one of these days.
While I’m still not sure Uncharted 3 takes my favorite in the series, there’s some to take issue with, but even more to love.
Comic Con 2011 is right around the corner, and we can’t wait for the chaos. Zachary Levi, star of NBC’s Chuck, also happens to be the co-owner of Nerd Machine, a company that is hell bent on bringing nerd-culture to the masses. Levi apparently has friends in high places because he convinced everyone’s favorite captain to shoot a PSA on Swamp Ass
A spoiler free review of Super – “While it’s far from a “perfect” film, it’s incredibly unique, and at some points moving. Isn’t that why we go to the movies in the first place? On the other hand, Super is an exhausting film that leaves you feeling a bit empty inside. The laughs and violence were spectacular, but they couldn’t really mask the overall somber tone of the movie. The film did a great job of showing us why the world does NOT have super heroes. For members of the sci-fi community the name Jewel Staite is instantly recognizable. From starship mechanics, to inter-dimensional doctors, Jewel brings a likability and quirky charm to whatever role she inhabits. I’ve been a fan of Jewel for a long time, but like most of you out there she first caught my eye as the unrefined starship mechanic Kaylee on Joss Whendon’s spectacular, yet short lived series Firefly. After Firefly’s tragic and unwarrented execution, Jewel went on to join the cast of Star-Gate: Atlantis, as Dr. Jennifer Keller.
Here is a trailer for Gunn’s next film Super, starring: Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and Nathan Fillion. What happens when misshapen nerd (Wilson) loses his Elven princess (Tyler) of a wife? He gets a sidekick, throws on a costume, and goes on what appears to be a murder spree.
I’m a convention nerd. I pretty much always have been. My first convention was at a local Holiday Inn in Fort Myers Florida. It featured “Q” from Star Trek the Next Generation and Buck Rogers star Erin Grey. I remember loving it, even though by today’s convention standards it was pretty awful. I’ve also managed to make it out to my fair share of Comic Cons in San Diego. For those that have not been, it’s the nerd version of the Hajj. Every once in a while you’ll luck out at a convention and capture a really amazing moment.
