As a total Gears fanboy it was a little surreal sitting next to Dominic Santiago (Carlos Ferro), COG Gear (Isaiah “old spice guy” Mustafah) and the “Cole Train” himself (Lester Speight) when their names were announced to a capacity crowd. The Gears 3 Beta is over. Sadness ensues. Gears fans will have to wait all the way until September 20th in order to witness the climatic conclusion of Epic’s gory masterpiece. The Beta was a well organized frag fest that offered up very few headaches, and a whole lot of fun. With dedicated servers and an excellent net code, Gears of War 3 was one of the smoothest multiplayer games I’ve ever played. Also, check out the contents of the Gears 3: Collector’s edition… wow
Often viewed as “the most anticipated game of 2011”, Gears of War 3 is set to burst from its emergence hole on September 20th of 2011. I don’t drive a pickup truck, don’t chug beer out of a football helmet, and can spell my own name (on occasion) and guess what haters … I’m a huge Gears fan.. The Gears of War series gets a bad rap for being “another space marine game”, or “digital testosterone”, but I disagree. I’ve played the games, read the novels, and truly believe the Gears of War franchise is a rich and adult science fiction universe. But how does Gears 3 play you ask?
I hopped on Gears with my good friend Derek who is also a Gears fanatic. Let’s just say he knows how to wield his lancer…. Of all my friends that play Gears, Derek is also the most capable player. I figured he and I would be able to handle anything those ladies at EPIC could throw at us. We were vets, like Marcus and Dom.
