Today, Netflix announces a streaming only plan for $7.99 per month. Consequentially, the cost other plans appear to be increasing by a dollar or so, depending on your plan. The plan announcement arrives on the heels of the recently announced Hulu Plus, which came out of the preview period earlier this week, also $7.99. Looks like a little healthy competition here, giving consumers more choice beyond cable and satellite. Score!
I am not a huge awards show buff, but there is some sort of weird draw to all the spectacle and massive egos. I missed a lot of movies last year and I intend to fix that here and now with the First Annual Oscar Challenge (trademarked). I have compiled a list of all the movies up for awards, ordered by the amount of awards each movie received and marked if they are in the best picture contention (go figure the top 10 awarded movies are just that). Now you can take part and watch all the Oscar contenders with me because I am sharing the list with you. I will be keeping everyone up to date on how this is going right here on this very site. I will watch as many of these as I can in the next 25 days, that’s right, 25 days until this challenge is up. So let’s bust out the fake butter and popcorn and whittle this list down. Feel free to join in on Facebook or right here in the comments. First up is probably going to be Social Network for me. I have been wanting to catch that movie since it was in theaters and now is the time to do it.
If for some reason you don’t want to join me in the challenge, well then admire my hard work at compiling not only a list of all of the movies up for awards, what awards they are up for and how many they are receiving, but also where you can get your nerdy little hands on it NOW.
