Awesome “Portal” Short Film by Dan Trachtenberg

Am I obligated to write the cake is a lie?

 

Our fellow podcaster (Ash would call him our friend) on the Totally Rad Show, Dan Trachtenberg, just unleashed this short film done for Portal. Called Portal: No Escape. It is crazy high quality and I definitely recommend cranking this thing up to 1080p, leaning back and enjoying the show.

PAX East 2012: XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Old Fashioned Strategy Reborn

The year was 1994 and I was sitting at my computer covered in Dorito crumbs and shattered dreams. After hours of playing XCOM, my entire squad of super soldiers had met their end due to a simple mis-click. Since death in XCOM was permanent, it was time to reload and try again… and again. XCOM: UFO Defense was one of my favorite strategy titles of all time, despite it’s brutal difficulty. For nearly twenty years I’ve been waiting for a proper sequel, and I’m very happy to say that XCOM: Enemy Unknown is that title.

Do video games need “Hype Men”?

In recent years some developers have taken it upon themselves to become “Hype men” for their respective companies. Now let’s get one thing straight, if I worked on a AAA title that looked like Bulletstorm, you bet I would hype the living hell out of it. The question however is, have the devs over at Epic and People Can Fly gone too far? Is this latest “hype” filled video for Bulletstorm dumbing down the talent of some amazing artists and programmers?
